A bit about us…

There’s no place quite like Playstation. We hear it all the time, and we couldn’t agree more. Since the 1980s, we’ve been a home away from home for the children of Canterbury and surrounds, and a welcome respite for parents and carers too! We offer care for little ones aged 6 weeks to 5 years, and love seeing these faces and personalities grow.

Our warm and wonderful staff are a large part of what makes Playstation so special and are famous for their welcoming smiles and open arms. With an unwavering commitment to creating a caring, safe, and fun space for play and development, they’re the backbone and the heart of our Playstation community.

Our Program

Playstation provides a unique integrated 0-5 age program with places capped at a maximum of 27 children per day. We offer two session options based on age; Nursery and Pre-school.

Our Nursery sessions are designed for bubs and kids aged 0-3 years, and run from 9am until 12pm, Monday to Friday.

Pre-school Sessions cater to children aged 2 years and over, and run from 9am until 2pm, Monday to Friday.

Both Nursery and Pre-school sessions have their own supervising educator, and age-appropriate activities and toys to nurture development and inspire plenty of play. We also have a higher educator to child ratio for children under three years of age, ensuring one staff for every four children (1:4).

We want every child in our care to feel confident as they discover and learn, which is why we have separate outdoor areas for each of our sessions. This provides the two age groups their own space to explore and engage safely.

All our programs are carefully considered and designed to promote independence and creativity, while building self-esteem and confidence. They’re planned, implemented by our well trained, highly experienced and much-loved staff.

What is occasional care?

Occasional childcare is flexible care that gives parents and carers some well deserved time and space, whether it be for work or non-work related commitments.

Parents in Canterbury and surrounding communities are able to enrol their children into permanent weekly sessions with the option of adding extra sessions on a casual basis, subject to availability. Playstation Canterbury is a cost-effective solution for parents who are working from home, looking for additional childcare hours in between kinder days, or who simply need a break during the week.

We are surrounded by a wonderful community of parents and guardians that trust Playstation to care for their little ones, and we want to thank them for sharing their positive experiences with new families.  Here are some of the testimonials that made us blush.

  • “We are so lucky that our daughters’ first introduction to the world of being cared for by others, was with the wonderful staff at Playstation. Both our girls attended the centre for close to three years each and they were always eager to get there. I would recommend Playstation to anyone without hesitation.”

  • “It really is Canterbury’s best kept secret. My two children love attending and can’t wait to play with their friends and take part in the activities. The staff are incredibly warm and friendly and I feel as confident in the staff as I do leaving my children with family.”

    George

  • “We have been part of the Playstation community for nearly four years with now two kids attending. On their Playstation days they can’t wait to run in and they talk about it as if it were an extension of the family. We are thrilled to have found a place that feels like a second home while the kids grow and thrive with the care there. It is a rare gem that we feel very lucky to have found!”

    Kel

  • "We have been sending our children to Playstation since 2021 and absolutely love the staff, the program and the facilities. The staff are extremely nurturing, the facilities are clean and we have found our children have thrived under the play based program. We highly recommend Playstation in Canterbury to all!"
